Collection, preservation, and distribution of human pathogenic bacteria, especially bacteria responsible for respiratory tract infections.

  1. We collect pathogenic strains that cause respiratory or systemic infections in humans. In addition, we gather and administer strain-specific genetic information.
  2. In particular, we collect and preserve human pathogenic bacteria that are listed in the Japanese Infectious Disease Law. Other important targets include human opportunistic pathogens. For safety reasons, highly pathogenic bacteria are also preserved at the genetic (DNA) level and may be provided in the form of DNA.
  3. We promote the collection and distribution of strains, along with additional useful information for research and education, including strains with pathogenic factors, attenuated strains, vaccine strains, and drug-resistant strains.
